When: June 2024-June 2025
Where: Lost Creek Hiking Trail (Chatfield, MN)
What: This 12-month public art installation of crochet artwork showcases fungi along a 6.5 mile public-use hiking trail near Chatfield, MN. A total of 15 crochet fungi were mounted on dead wood along the trail, each a lifelike crochet model of a fungi species native to the Driftless region.
Hikers were invited to (gently) touch, take photos, and enjoy this peek into the diversity of fungi Minnesota is home to. These essential organisms play a vital role in the life cycle of natural environments, disposing of dead matter and dispersing nutrients through decay.
